Dr. Sheila John

Dr. Sheila John is a consultant ophthalmologist at Sankara Nethralaya, Eye hospital Chennai, India.  She has completed her PhD in teleophthalmology in 2021 from the Tamilnadu                 Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai.   Her doctoral thesis was titled “To Compare the Accuracy of Computer-aided Grading for Presence or Absence of Diabetic Retinopathy in Type 2 Diabetes Patients in a Tele screening Program.”  She is currently the Head of Department of Teleophthalmology and E-learning.  Tele-ophthalmology mobile van takes medical services to the doorsteps of the underprivileged in rural India.  She has published many articles on Teleophthalmology in national and international Journals.  She has conducted many Teleophthalmology workshops in India and abroad to teach and trained medical and non-medical staff to implement Teleophthalmology.  She has delivered lectures in national and international conferences.
