Dr Wagner is a clinician-academic ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Senior Research Fellow at University College London. With expertise in retinal imaging, epidemiology, and artificial intelligence, Dr Wagner’s research focus is in oculomics – leveraging ophthalmic imaging for the diagnosis, prognosis and mechanistic understanding of systemic non-communicable disease. As coordinator of the AlzEye study in London, his recent research has included photoreceptor loss in gum disease, retinal neurodegeneration in schizophrenia, and ophthalmic biomarkers of Parkinson disease. For his work in AI for retinopathy of prematurity prediction, he was awarded the Ulverscroft David Owen Award by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is Module Lead for the Telemedicine & AI postgraduate certificate at UCL and steering member of the Consortium for Vision and Oculomics in Psychiatry.
